Pantheon Welcomes New Advisors to Diversity Committee

handsThe Pantheon Foundation Advisory Board is growing, and in June we welcomed four new advisors to help guide the work of Pantheon’s Diversity Committee, a working group committed to advancing justice, inclusion, and pluralism within the broader Pagan community. The Diversity Committee will help Pantheon respond appropriately to the needs of under-served communities, including people of color, LGBTQ Pagans, English language-learners, and others. The new advisors are Carolina Amor, Crystal Blanton, Lou Florez, and Mary Gee. Brief bios of each member are posted at the Pantheon Foundation website. Please take a moment to get to know these talented and dedicated volunteers.

This summer, along with Pantheon board members Janet Hayes and Jessica (Rabbit) Matthews, the new advisors are crafting Pantheon Foundation’s non-discrimination and diversity policies. We will be publishing the final documents on our website within the next few weeks.

In addition to their work with the Diversity Committee, each of our advisors brings a range of other valuable skills and experiences. Some will be serving Pantheon Foundation in multiple capacities.  A new working group soon will start developing sexual conduct and safety guidelines that are sensitive to the complexities of Pagan communities, including non-heteronormative power dynamics. Other topics the Diversity Committee will address include age discrimination and recognition of the unique needs of diversely-abled people.

Announcing: The Diotima Prize!

Simmler-DeotymaThe Pantheon Foundation announces The Diotima Prize to help support the educational goals of one Pagan student who is currently in an accredited seminary program.

The merit-based Prize is named for Diotima of Mantinea, the philosopher and priestess who is the teacher of Socrates in the Symposium of Plato, explaining to him the path of Divine ascent through the contemplation of Eros and Beauty.

We invite all 2nd year, or later, committed Pagan Master of Divinity students at accredited seminaries in the United States to write an essay on the nature of Paganism and ministering to Pagans in a religious context.

Donors: Do you want to support the presence of the Pagan view in institutions of higher theological learning, and give a Pagan seminarian a boost for her/his educational needs? Please give to our Indiegogo Campaign here.

A Successful Launch

At PantheaCon this year we launched the Pantheon Foundation to a packed crowd with high hopes. We are humbled by the trust invested in us by the community, pledge ourselves to be worthy of that trust, and to earn it every day.

Our gratitude goes out to the many people who donated during the launch. We bow before your generosity.

To close, some words about the spirit of our project…

Essence

Our way to the realization of a Pagan future
will not be through the Sword
we will foment no fruitless armed insurrection
Nor will it be through the Cup
no Dionysian revolution will overthrow our sick society
Nor even through the Wand
for the laws of this land are used against us
and we have little access to the halls of justice
But the Coin is for All
with it we can slowly build, collect real power,
train leaders, and enact good stewardship
and build a Pagan future
