“A scrapbook found in a San Francisco dumpster inspires new music and stories by: Jason Webley, Chicken John Rinaldi, Eliza Rickman, Shenandoah Davis, Led to Sea, Lonesome Leash, Mts. & Tunnels, and more.
Twenty years ago, San Francisco showman Chicken John Rinaldi found an old scrapbook lying at the bottom of a dumpster. The book documented the life and death of a woman named Margaret Rucker, born in 1907. He was captivated by this mysterious woman and her tragic story, captured in sepia images and dark poetry.
Last year when he introduced her to accordion troubadour Jason Webley, he learned that not only was Margaret born in Webley’s home town of Everett, Washington – she was the daughter of one of the town’s founders, buried in the enigmatic pyramid above the town.
Webley and Rinaldi assembled some of the best songwriters in the country to write new works inspired by Margaret’s life and writings for a special concert in Everett this past April. As an encore to that sold-out show, they are bringing the concert back to the place where that scrapbook was found with this show at San Francisco’s beautiful Castro Theatre.”
