“As this month’s devotional falls on the morning of the Winter Solstice, we will gather in kinship and music to celebrate the longest night of the year and the rebirth of the Sun. We’ll raise our voices in song, laughter, and blessings as the Wheel turns, and connect with the divine light within and around us.

The ritual will be led by Sharon Knight, an internationally touring musician performing her own style of Celtic-inspired folk rock, which she calls Neofolk Romantique. She is the co-founder (along with guitarist Winter) of the Gothic-Tribal-Folk-Metal band Pandemonaeon, and collaborated with Thorn on two CDs, Songs for the Waning Year and Songs for the Strengthening Sun. In addition to performing and recording, Sharon also offers workshops in Sonic Alchemy, in which sound is used to orchestrate psychic and spiritual breakthroughs.

As always, Solar Cross Devotionals are simple rituals designed to honor the Gods and Goddesses and to gather community together. Children with legal guardians are welcomed.

The devotional will take place in our new indoor location at Terra’s Temple in Berkeley, 3051 Adeline Street, across the street from Ashby BART.

We welcome you to gather at 10:00AM for a 10:30AM start. We will close between 11:30AM and noon. Donations to Solar Cross (and/or offerings of bread and fruit) are welcomed; however, nothing is required.”
