SUMMARY:Grego the Musical Puppeteer
DESCRIPTION:Grego the Musical Puppeteer \na benefit performance for Home of Truth \nSaturday\, October 11\, 7:00-8:00PM \nHome of Truth Spiritual Center\, 1300 Grand Street\, Alameda \nsuggested donation: Adults $10\, Children $5 \nhttp://www.gregoland.com/flyer/ \nhttp://thehomeoftruth.org \n  \n“Welcome to Gregoland: The intersection of musical performance\,  puppetry\, and theatrical shenanigans forms fertile ground here. \n  \nThe instruments\, music\, and puppets are all either traditional\, or original creations rooted in folk tradition. Several historical forms of one-man-band enliven tunes from the thirteenth century to the present on instruments ranging from elegant to fanciful to downright silly. \nBut\, as if a one-man-band were not enough\, the instruments become puppets\, or are played by them. Puppets dance and perform to the accompaniment of music played live\, in real time\, by the solo performer. \n  \nSome of this stuff is for adults\, some for children\, but most of it is for everyone. The universal languages of sound and image invite  smiles not only from all ages\, but from anywhere in the world where people like to smile. \nThis show has been road-tested in a dozen countries\, illuminated TV screens in six of them\, contributed to radio programming in some\, (how many puppet shows can say that?)\, and animated arts festivals in many a land.”

Volunteers from around the world defend buffalo on their traditional winter habitat and advocate for their protection. Our daily patrols stand with the buffalo on the ground they choose to be on\, and document every move made against them. \n  \nVolunteers spend all day\, from sunrise until sunset\, watching and documenting actions taken against the buffalo. We run patrols from cars\, skis and snowshoes to protect buffalo outside the park. Tactics range from video documentation to nonviolent civil disobedience. \n  \nBFC enjoys incredible support and participation from the local community. Residents allow us to post signs on their property designating them as Buffalo Safe Zones. We offer a fence repair service to mitigate damage caused by wildlife. Locals join us on our daily rounds\, and many support our patrols with hot drinks and food. \n  \nAll of our work happens because people are willing to take a break from their usual schedules and come help. Over 3000 people from all over the country and around the world have joined us in our log cabin on Hebgen Lake to help stop the buffalo slaughter. We feed and house all our volunteers in our cabin and Gardner satellite camp. Volunteers patrol for buffalo by skis\, snowshoes\, or cars. Everyone communicates by a network of hand-held radios\, and also carries a video camera. \n  \nOur office runs outreach programs\, including slide and video presentations\, summer tabling in Yellowstone Park\, website and e-mail updates\, and national media coverage through press releases and video.”
