SUMMARY:Seed Keeping and the Divine Feminine: A warm conversation with Flordemayo
DESCRIPTION:Seed Keeping and the Divine Feminine \nA warm conversation with Flordemayo \nSunday\, December 21\, 10:00AM \nonline \nby donation\, please register at the website below \nhttp://greatmystery.org/Programs/flordemayo.html \nhttp://followthegoldenpath.org \n(site plays music): http://www.grandmotherscouncil.org \n  \n“We have crossed humanity’s tipping point into the dawn of a new age\, the age of the Divine Feminine. The Divine Feminine is the Goddess in all traditions and cultures that have been in place since the beginning of time. These traditions are powerful\, mystical\, magical\, and primal to Mother Earth. It is a time of restoration\, healing\, and renewal. \nAs these feminine energies intertwine with our Divine Spark the birthing of ideas are limitless – the task is to sort out which idea calls the heart to step forward and take flight. \nDuring this fireside chat\, Flordemayo will share with us the ideas that are calling to her heart\, especially the importance of saving seeds\, and the work she has created with The Path\, five sacred temples for humanity housed on 40-acres in Estancia\, New Mexico. She will also share a simple practice of connecting to the divine feminine. \n  \nSign-Up Now and Receive \nOnline fireside chat with Flordemayo and Robin \nYou are encouraged to join the conversation during the program \nUnlimited online access to the video recording following the event \n  \nCurandera espiritu (healer by divine spirit) and Mayan priestess Flordemayo is one of the 13 grandmothers of the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers\, a global alliance that teaches ancestral ways of prayer\, education and healing. Flordemayo was born in a small village on the Nicaragua/Honduras border. Her father was a local shaman and her mother was a midwife and healer\, whom Flordemayo apprenticed with from the age four. As her own children grew\, Flordemayo began to work as a healer. Today\, she uses the sacred breath\, laying on of hands\, application of herbs\, as well as distance healing\, with her clients. \nFlordemayo has worked with alternative western healers\, Native American and Mayan healers. She received her Mayan priest training from Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj\, a respected spiritual leader and head of the Quiche Maya Council of Elders. Flordemayo is now recognized as a priestess by the Maya. \nFlordemayo has been a featured speaker on Curanderismo at many conferences on traditional medicine\, both within the United States and internationally. Many alternative healing practitioners\, medical doctors\, nurses and medical institutions have recognized her knowledge and natural healing skills. She is a recipient of the Martin de la Cruz Award for Alternative Healing\, a prestigious honor given by the International Congress of Traditional Medicine. \nSince 1999\, Flordemayo has been a part of the Wisdom of the Grandmother’s Foundation.”

SUMMARY:Remembering David Nadel\, founder of Ashkenaz
DESCRIPTION:Remembering David Nadel\, founder of Ashkenaz\nfeaturing Razor and the Rocksteadies\, Taraf de Locos\, Balkan Folkdancing\nFriday\, December 19\, 6:30-9:00PM\nAshkenaz 1317 San Pablo Avenue\, Berkeley\n$15\nhttp://www.ashkenaz.com/event-detail.php?field=&value=&offset=3&eventid=503\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1515503588734075\nhttp://www.eventbrite.com/e/remembering-david-nadel-razor-the-rocksteadies-taraf-de-locos-balkan-folkdancing-tickets-14892761651 \n  \n“Remembering David Nadel is an annual tribute to the late founder of Ashkenaz. It’s been 18 years since Nadel passed away\, but he is still remembered and his influence deeply felt throughout the communities he sparked. This benefit event reflects Ashkenaz’s diversity and our spirit – and his vision – of bringing people together through music and dance. \nAnchored by the drumming and toasting of Emsley RazorBlade Fraser (of Sister I-Live and the Reggae Angels)\, Razor and the Rocksteadies bring classic reggae to the stage of Ashkenaz. The band is comprised of Ashkenaz regulars and staff including Joe Balestreri (The Bug Family/The Flux) on trumpet\, Max Lopez (Clementine String Band) on bass\, Jennifer Jolly (Kotoja\, Zulu Spear) on keyboards\, and Aaron Hammerman (Clementine String Band) on guitar. Inspired by the records DJ-ed by longtime Ashkenaz doorman Edwin Thaxter during late-night dominoes games at Ashkenaz\, the Rocksteadies draw material from the golden age of Jamaican ska\, rocksteady\, and roots reggae. Playing in honor of David Nadel\, the Rocksteadies will be joined by special guests from throughout Ashkenaz’s diverse community of family and musicians. \nTaraf de Locos is a world music dance band whose roots trace to its members’ meeting as children at a summer music camp\, where they played together in the various styles of their different cultures. As adults they carry on that approach. They play a mix of songs and tunes from Spain\, Romania\, Macedonia\, Albania\, Greece\, Turkey\, Tajikistan\, Brazil\, Colombia\, Cuba\, and Mexico. As best friends\, they bring a fun-loving energy that is genuinely contagious. Taraf de Locos features Aya Safiya on violin and vocals; Cecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea on trumpet\, guirra\, and vocals; Miguelito León on percussion and vocals; and Tano Brock on guitar\, saxophone\, and vocals. \nA monthly fixture at Ashkenaz\, Balkan Folkdancing is a revival of ’70s-style Berkeley folkdancing with some international request dancing to recorded music\, capturing the spirit that David Nadel was inspired by when he opened Ashkenaz in 1973. One does not need a live band to experience the communal pleasure of dancing together. Dance lessons offered at the monthly Wednesday event help newcomers join in the experience.”

SUMMARY:The Second Annual Tannenbaum Toast
DESCRIPTION:The Second Annual Tannenbaum Toast\nhosted by The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign\nSunday\, December 14\, 4:00-6:00PM\nThe House Of Shields\, 39 New Montgomery Street\, San Francisco\nDonations gratefully accepted \n21+ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/622667774522998\nhttp://www.emperorsbridge.org\nhttp://www.thehouseofshields.com\nhttp://emperornortontour.com \n  \n“A great Christmas tree has stood sentinel in Union Square\, San Francisco\, every holiday season since 1880. \nWord is that this was the first public Christmas tree of its kind in the United States – and that it was Emperor Norton (c.1818-1880) who originally called for it\, possibly thinking that such a tree would bring particular delight to children. \nIt’s a legend that has the ring of truth. \nLast year\, on the second Sunday afternoon of December\, The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign celebrated this legend with a holiday party at The House of Shields – a beautifully restored 1908 bar that is just a short walk from Union Square. We called it The First Annual Tannenbaum Toast. \nFrom the beginning\, we felt that the Tannenbaum Toast had the makings of a new tradition. The gathering was such a festive success that we vowed to make it so. \nSo\, kick off the holidays in regal style! Join The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign\, on the second Sunday afternoon in December\, for… \nThe Second Annual Tannenbaum Toast \nRaise a glass to the Emperor for his kindness in calling for a great Christmas tree for all to enjoy during the holidays. \nAnd learn more about the Campaign’s efforts to foster public awareness\, understanding and appreciation of the life and legacy of Emperor Norton – and to become the leading public resource on the Emperor. \nWe’ll be back at The House of Shields\, where the formal Toast will be at 5:00PM. \nOnce again\, the drink will be The House of Shields’s version of the classic Boothby cocktail – created in 1908 by legendary San Francisco bartender William T. ‘Cocktail’ Boothby\, during his tenure at the Palace Hotel\, just across the street from The House of Shields. \nThose who would like an imperial escort to the Toast can join us under the Union Square Christmas tree at 3:30PM. We’ll be joined by the Emperor himself – as played by Joseph Amster of Emperor Norton’s Fantastic San Francisco Time Machine – and will stroll over with him to The House of Shields at about 3:45PM. \nWe’ll see you in the mezzanine! \nDonations will be gratefully accepted. \nThe Emperor’s Bridge Campaign is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. We currently are in the process of applying for federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c) nonprofit organization.”
