SUMMARY:Celebrate Beira\, Scottish Goddess of Winter
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Beira\, Scottish Goddess of Winter \nwith Daughters of the Goddess \nThursday\, December 4\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgender women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“She is the Old Crone of Winter\, the Queen of Winter\, Goddess Beira of Scotland is a Goddess of transformation and creation.  She is the Mother of all the Goddesses and Gods. She is part of the Triple Goddess who make up the seasons of the year. She is a Giantess who walks the Earth\, covering it with snow that falls from Her hair. She creates mountains ranges and valleys with Her magical hammer. She leaps from mountaintop to mountaintop\, dropping rocks which create the rolling sacred hills. Beira controls the weather of Winter\, unleashing powerful and cleansing storms. \nBeira also protects the animals during the Winter by putting them to sleep\, hibernating until the spring. She assists the deer in finding food in the snow-covered forests and valleys of the mountains.  At Winter Solstice\, Beira drinks of the fountain of youth and slowly starts to become young again as Spring arrives. \nBeira has been made in many of the stories to be an ugly\, angry\, old crone\, seeing old age as something evil and to be avoided.  We have lost our connection to our elders\, often locking them away or disregarding their wisdom.  We need to change this\, we are losing so much.  At this time the we celebrate all the mysteries of the Winter and of the wise ones – our elders.  How can we honor the elders in our lives?  How do we open up to hearing the wisdom that has been gained thru a lifetime of living?  These are women who have paved the way for us\, and can teach us the mystery of what it is to live the cycles of the years\, the changes in womyn’s bodies\, and magic of life. \nWe are sending a special shout out to the crones of our community.  Many we see only once a year at our Annual Womyn’s Spiral Dance.  You have so much to offer\, and so much that we can learn from.  It would be wonderful to have you come and join us at this altar to celebrate this important and sacred stage of life. \nFor the altar\, please bring a white candle and stone or rock that is sacred to you.  Also if you have any images or symbols of Beira\, please bring them for the altar. Her Symbols are sacred stones\, ravens\, crows\, the waning moon\, and falling leaves. \nCome and celebrate with us the wonders and Mysteries of the Winter Crone. \n  \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc. In honor of Mother Earth\, we do not provide disposable items)\, a candle (for safety reasons\, we highly recommend a candle in a glass container\, often called a novena)\, and pillow or chair to sit on to all rituals. For more information about our rituals please visit our FAQ page. \nPlease see our current series schedule and check the web page for the specific ritual to see what items to bring and how to prepare yourself. Please take the time to read this\, especially if you are a newcomer. New information is added from time to time so even if you feel you have already seen this\, it is important to check back in every now and then.”

SUMMARY:Celebrate Tuwapongtumsi\, Hopi Earth Mother and Goddess of All Moist Elements of Life
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Tuwapongtumsi\, Hopi Earth Mother and Goddess of All Moist Elements of Life\nFriday\, November 21\, 7:30PM\nLafayette location\, directions given upon RSVP\n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange\nThis ritual is for cisgendered women.\nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com\nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com\n“In the beginning\, in the ‘long ago’\, Tuwapongtumsi married Sootukwnanagw. They were the Earth and the Sun. The Creatrix and the Light. The Sand Altar Maiden and the Star god. Their intercourse and their climax brings rain to all living things. The fluids produced by their passions are the fertilizing nectar of all of life. \nThe Hopi Peoples are descended from the Anasazi. Today\, many live on the Hopi Indian Reservation in modern Arizona. They are known in the United States as Pueblo Peoples because they lived in villages upon their contact with Spanish intruders on their continent. Then they were both farmers and herders of small animals such as sheep. One can imagine how important water and rainfall were to people who depended upon the falling water for the survival of their crops and their animal herds. \nTuwapongtumsi is known to some as Mother Earth Herself\, an understanding that derives from sum of the parts of Her name. Tuwa means sand\, pong means display\, and tumasi means female. To others She is Sand Altar Womyn or Sand Altar Maiden. She is the nurturer of all living things and the Mother of all plants. She brings life to the smallest mosses\, the prettiest flowers\, and the tallest trees. She brings life to us. \nAs our Winter/wet season approaches in the Bay Area\, we humbly and graciously gather at the altar of Tuwapongtumsi\, She who is the Goddess of all Moist Elements of Life. In so doing we acknowledge Her importance and we give praise and thanks to Her for every molecule of water that She shares with us through Her pleasure. It is water that bonds all living things and through our water: our sweat\, our blood\, our tears\, and our own passionate offerings of a sexual nature\, we are Her daughters. \nFor the altar please bring a blue or green candle. Also please bring a small container/bottle of water collected from the geographic area in which you live: the sacred water that sustains your body and that of your community – the water that you bathe in\, drink\, water your plants with\, and feed to your animals. \nWe look so forward to circling with you! \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following:\nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc.

SUMMARY:Visiting the Cucuteni with artist Christopher Castle
DESCRIPTION:Visiting the Cucuteni \nwith artist Christopher Castle \nSunday\, November 9\, 1:00-3:00PM \nSilk Road House\, 1944 University Avenue\, Berkeley\, 510-981-0700 \nhttp://www.silkroadhouse.org \nhttp://christophercastle.com \nhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucuteni-Trypillian_culture \n  \n“Artist Christopher Castle will talk about his experience of the little known 7\,000 year old Cucuteni culture of Romania\, one of the key Old European people and some of the first farmers. He will show slides\, discussing Cucuteni art and religion together with his visual work that delves into their inner meaning. \nHe recently returned from an artist’s residency in Moldavia\, northeastern Romania\, where he attended an international symposium on the development of scripts entitled From Symbols to Signs. The Cucuteni were one of several peoples whose symbolic marks were seminal in the genesis of writing. \nThe thousands of small clay female figurines found by archaeologists are signs of a cosmology that was focused on a birth-giving\, nourishing\, death-wielding and regenerating force in the universe\, a Goddess. The form and surface decoration of Cucuteni pottery and figurines point to a life that included observing the cycles of nature\, invoking the fertility of the land\, and even a sensibility to subtle geomantic energies. \nChristopher demonstrates through his own work with this ancient material a visible manifestation of a consciousness that integrates mind with nature\, an understanding that is so badly needed in our times to counter the extremes of environmental exploitation. Further he explores the powerful potential that these mysterious artifacts hold as shamanic devices for healing. He will introduce also some other areas of his work that have lead him to this treasure trove of ancient art. \nCastle’s work as an artist is an exploration of the relationship between humanity and nature with a distinct slant towards ancient mystical traditions. He has traveled extensively studying ancient sites and artifacts from many cultures. His paintings and graphic works open a doorway to the lost knowledge these places and objects contain. Alongside his studio work\, he teaches environmental art in several Bay Area schools and creates murals focusing communities on their locally distinct natural ecology. He exhibits worldwide and his work is in many distinguished collections such as the British Museum\, the Ashmolean Museum and the National Galleries of Scotland and Wales. \nSilk Road House events are sponsored by the Silkroad Foundation.”

SUMMARY:Celebrate Lakshmi\, Hindu Goddess of Fertility\, Abundance\, Prosperity\, Beauty\, and Health
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Lakshmi\, Hindu Goddess of Fertility\, Abundance\, Prosperity\, Beauty\, and Health \nThursday\, November 6\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgendered women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“Lakshmi (Good Fortune)\, sometimes called Sri (Prosperity) is the Hindu Goddess of love and beauty.  She brings us Wealth\, Love\, Beauty\, Happiness and Abundance. Lakshmi is derived from the Sanskrit word Laksya\, which means aim or goal. Some of Her other titles include: The Lotus Goddess\, Daughter of the Ocean of Milk (Ksirabdhitanaya)\, Ocean Born (Jaladhija)\, Lotus (Padma)\, Lotus Bearer (Padmavati) and Jaganmata (the Mother of the Universe). \nLakshmi’s story begins with Her birth from the churning ocean\, riding a Lotus Blossom\, bearing gifts and blessings\, and bringing renewal to the world.  Shining like a million stars\, Lakshmi rode in upon Her Lotus Blossom delighting and dazzling all of the gods with Her radiant beauty. She is a beautiful woman with four hands\, sitting on a full-blooming lotus and holding lotus buds – which stand for beauty\, purity and fertility.  Gold coins also flow from Her hands. \nShe is known to be a Goddess of wealth and prosperity in both the spiritual and the material realms.  In India\, Her devotees worship Her during Diwali\, the Festival of Lights. Small diyas (earthen oil lamps) are lit around the periphery of and inside homes\, welcoming Lakshmi in and hoping that She will be comfortable. In West Bengal\, She is worshiped during a Full Moon night in Autumn\, it is believed that She showers wealth on this night. It is said that She comes on Her mount\, the Owl\, and takes away the darkness with Her\, leaving light and joy with Her devotees. \nIn Orissa\, Gaja Lakshmi Puja is celebrated with much fervor on a Full-Moon day in the month of Aswina (September-October). In some provinces\, the Puja or prayer sessions go on for as many as 7-10 days\, within the business community\, calling for an abundant fiscal year. \nAs we gather at Her altar\, we will ask Lakshmi to bless us with Her characteristics of beauty\, grace\, abundance\, prosperity\, love and happiness. \nFor the Ritual Please wear Gold or Green. For the altar bring pictures and symbols of Lakshmi.   Some of Lakshmi’s symbols include elephants\, water\, gold coins\, and rice. Holly and basil are sacred to Her. Please bring a gold\, white\, or green candle\, your checkbooks and wallets\, business plans\, and any other financial items that you want action on or would like to have blessed.  Bring something from nature for the altar that you don’t plan to take home\, such as a plant\, flower\, or piece of fruit. \nAlso\, remember to bring a wide mouth jar with a tight fitting lid and loose change and any oils or ingredients you want to add to the money water to help the energy grow and blossom.  In the spirit of giving thanks to the Temple\, please bring a tithe of 5 bills (of any denomination) wrapped in a gold cord or ribbon. \nIf you still have remaining Money Water from a previous ritual\, please use the water to bless your front steps\, computer\, money altar\, and the Earth.   Give the remaining money in the jar a good rinse\, giving Her thanks and praise for the goodness She has brought to you. Bring the leftover money to the ritual to add to the water or spend it on something special for your magickal practice! \nHail Laksmi! \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc.

SUMMARY:Deepening Into Magdalene Mysteries
DESCRIPTION:Deepening Into Magdalene Mysteries \nSaturday\, November 1\, 7:00-9:00PM \nDhyana Center\, 186 North Main Street\,  #220\, Sebastopol \nsuggested donation $20 \nhttp://www.gospelofmarymagdalene.info \nhttp://dhyanacenter.com \n  \n“Sacred Healing Ritual of Mystical Proportions \n  \nWe continue diving into the Magdalene Mysteries with our tribute and understanding of the ecstasy of her ending years. She did not go into a nursing home to be forgotten; rather the angels lifted her up 7 times a day till she ascended. \n  \nThis time the men are going to be blessing us. The men will lead this event. This is a sacred healing ritual of mystical proportions. The men will bless you as the Divine Feminine and Masculine lifting and raising your vibration. The men will end the demise of the feminine when Eve bit the apple by taking the first bite. \n  \nIn the last couple of Divine Feminine events women have been knighting and anointing the men\, such as in the Feast day of Mary Magdalene. We have done over 55 knightings as well. We kept receiving requests by men who wanted to share their vows to speak compassionately and join with women in this divine calling of building a compassionate world for women and men. That is why at this event\, the men will be blessing the women. \n  \nWrapped in the sacred powerful music of… \nSound Healer Jan Cercone \nFantastic healing voice of Bobbie Ellison’s \nBodhi on Piano \n  \nWe intend to heal this fall from Grace with a living ritual of healing that one bite that Eve took. \n  \nMen leading are: Dan Craig-morse\, Bruce Hauschildt\, David Lieberstein\, Anthony Phillipson and many more. \n  \nWomen in the ritual are: Debra Giusti\, Melody Lucian dancing\, Ilona Marshall dancing\, Andrea Lauren dancing\, Yamini Redewill\, Mercedes Kirkel\, Luminessa Enjara\, and many more. \n  \nWrapped in sacred music and dance: \nThe man (Bruce) steps forward to take the first bite\, thus taking responsibility for this fall from Grace. Melody\, representing the Divine healing mother spirit\, joins him in the bite and they enact a beautiful healing dance\, balancing and joining the Divine in each as One. \n  \nThe blessings then continue until all are blessed while singing the glorious chants of Michael Stillwater. \n  \nMany women have said that they do not like the word Crone. In this ritual we are transforming the image of the Crone/elder to be called: An Advanced Ascending Being. \n  \nThis is who Mary Magdalene was in her elder years. \nLifted up by the Angels while in a state of ecstasy. \nLET THE DANCE BEGIN the transformation for all eternity…”

SUMMARY:35th Annual Reclaiming Spiral Dance Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Reclaiming’s Spiral Dance \nA ritual to honor our beloved dead and dance the spiral of rebirth \nSaturday\, November 1\, doors open at 6:00PM\, Ritual begins at 7:30PM \nCome early to view the altars\, for pre-ritual music\, and to hear the names of the Beloved Dead \nKezar Pavilion\, 755 Stanyan Street\, San Francisco (in Golden Gate Park) \nsee website for admission details \nhttp://reclaimingspiraldance.org \nhttp://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/829747 \nhttp://www.reclaiming.org/rituals/index.html \nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k8EU4TeBXM \nhttp://www.youtube.com/dancethespiral \n  \n“35th Annual Reclaiming Spiral Dance Ritual – Nov 1 – San Francisco We are already setting sail for the Spiral Dance ritual\, the time where we come together to visit with our ancestors. \n  \nA ritual to honor our beloved dead and dance the spiral of rebirth \nThe holiday popularly known as Halloween is the time of year known to witches as Samhain\, when the veil is thin between the worlds of the living and the dead. We gather to remember and honor our ancestors\, our Beloved Dead\, and all those who have crossed over. As we mourn for those we love who have died this year\, we also mourn the losses and pain suffered by the Earth\, our Mother. Yet even as we grieve we also remember and honor the sacred cycle of life\, death\, rebirth and regeneration\, celebrating the births of our children born this year\, and our own vital connections to the Earth and each other\, in which we ground our hope. \n  \nThe first Spiral Dance ritual was held in 1979 to celebrate the publication of Starhawk’s book\, The Spiral Dance (Harper and Row) Starhawk\, a founding member of the Reclaiming Collective\, wrote the original script which remains the heart of the ritual\, though it has been altered and embellished over the years by her and many other people. Traditionally\, the Spiral Dance calls upon the energy and talents of musicians\, artists\, poets\, dancers\, craftspeople\, singers\, technicians\, priests and priestesses from the Reclaiming Community and beyond\, and we are grateful to everyone who helps to create this magical experience we all share. \n  \nThis is a participatory ritual and pageant which has become a central event in the Wheel of the Year for many in the Reclaiming Community and beyond. Over 1\,200 people join in this observance of the Witches’ New year\, and the event raises funds which support the work of Reclaiming throughout the year. \n  \nWhen we dance the Spiral\, young and old together\, we remember and honor our own past at that same time that we renew our vision and embrace the future. Let it begin now! \n  \nBeloved Babies and Beloved Dead \nHonor the cycle of death and rebirth by sending us the names of those born and those who have died during the past year: \nBeloved Dead: email to www.reclaimingspiraldance.org/beloveddead \nBabies: email to www.reclaimingspiraldance.org/beloved-babies \n  \nChildren are welcome – childcare not provided. Wheelchair Accessible. This is a drug- and alcohol-free\, family-oriented ritual. Please honor us and the sacred by keeping it so.“ \n
