Phoenix teaches in the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft and she is the founder of Brigid’s Hammer Mystery School. Above all else\, Phoenix is a spiritual seeker looking for ways to deepen her practice every day.\nElla is a Reclaiming witch and life coach\, helping people to change their lives by finding their path and true calling. SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Fall Equinox and Laka\, Hawaiian Goddess of Hula and The Forest \nTuesday\, September 23\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $30 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgendered women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“She was born of a breath: an emanation\, rather than a human birth\, and She is the purest experience of inspiration. \nAltars to Laka grace the entrances of hula halaus in many reaches of the world! She is the Goddess of Hula\, and it is Her energy that moves the bodies of those who perform this Sacred Dance. Hula\, then\, is a partnership between the body that moves and the spirit of Laka that creates the movement. Laka both demands and ensures that we concentrate\, work hard\, and are diligent in whatever we endeavor to pursue. \nAs the Goddess of Hula\, Laka keeps the ancient stories of Indigenous Hawaiian ethnic heritage alive and sees to it that the history of the Hawaiian people is remembered and infused into the lives of future generations. She is Sacred Memory. \nLaka is also the Goddess of the forest and vegetation; all things lush and growing. She inspires life\, She increases fecundity\, and She teaches us about diligently listening for signs from Nature. When we embark to enter the forest\, it is She to whom we ask for permission. If we need plants from beneath Her trees\, it is She to whom we look for approval. As the Forest Goddess\, Laka is also closely associated with rainfall and the movement of air required for life. Many plants and flowers are Sacred to Her\, including the ohia lehua\, maile\, lama\, and ie ie\, which are traditionally used on Her altars and to make the leis which adorn Hula Dancers. \nThe Fall Equinox is the second of the three harvest Holydays in Nature’s calendar and the day when at the equator\, there are equal light and dark hours in a 24 hour period! How precious that we will prepare an altar for Laka during our Fall Rite! We give praise and thanks to Laka for this year’s precious harvest. \nAs we ready ourselves to feel the Spirit of Laka within us\, let us consider how we dance through each day of our lives\, how we have danced through the Wheel of the Year\, and what we will be harvesting from our hard work. How do you honor this energy that flows through you? In what ways do you reciprocate? How diligently do you listen to Her wishes and value them above all else? \nFor the altar\, please bring an offering of greenery\, a small potted plant\, some flowers\, or a fruit that you think She would like. In addition\, please bring a yellow candle and wear yellow\, which is a color that traditionally represents Laka on altars built for Her. \nWe look forward to celebrating Fall Equinox\, under the New Moon\, at the altar of Laka with each of you! \n  \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc. In honor of Mother Earth\, we do not provide disposable items)\, a candle (for safety reasons\, we highly recommend a candle in a glass container\, often called a novena)\, and pillow or chair to sit on to all rituals. For more information about our rituals please visit our FAQ page. \nPlease see our current series schedule and check the web page for the specific ritual to see what items to bring and how to prepare yourself. Please take the time to read this\, especially if you are a newcomer. New information is added from time to time so even if you feel you have already seen this\, it is important to check back in every now and then.”

SUMMARY:Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman
DESCRIPTION:Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman \nwith author Jean Shinoda Bolen \nFriday\, September 19\, 7:00PM \nBook Passage\, 51 Tamal Vista Boulevard\, Corte Madera\, 415-927-0960 \nFree event\, book can be purchased for $22.95 \nhttp://bookpassage.com/event/jean-shinoda-bolen-artemis \nhttp://www.jeanshinodabolen.com \n  \n“In Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman\, Jean Shinoda Bolen invites women and girls to discover the tenacity and courage of the Artemis archetype and how it can be tapped to live authentically. \n  \nTo tell the story\, Bolen delves deeply into the myth of Atalanta\, the famous hunter and runner in ancient Greek mythology\, a mortal woman who is identified with Artemis the Greek Goddess of the Hunt and Moon. Atalanta began life abandoned and left to die because she was born a girl. She faced the Calydon Boar and drew first blood; she was the runner who would demand to be beaten in a footrace by the man who could claim her as his bride. She exemplifies the indomitable spirit in competent\, courageous girls and in the women they become. This is grit\, the passion and persistence to go the distance\, to survive\, and to succeed. \n  \nShe includes many real-life stories as well as mythological and fictional examples of women who are similar to Atalanta\, including among others Princess Merida from the animated film Brave and Katniss from The Hunger Games. Artemis and Atalanta are the means through which readers can navigate their own personal exploration to become their authentic selves. Bolen dedicates this book to women and girls who embody the archetype of Artemis\, who discover her uncrushable spirit in themselves or others. \n  \nJean Shinoda Bolen\, M. D\, is a psychiatrist\, Jungian analyst and an internationally known author and speaker. Her books include The Tao of Psychology\, Goddesses in Everywoman\, Gods in Everyman\, Ring of Power\, Crossing to Avalon\, Close to the Bone\, The Millionth Circle\, Goddesses in Older Women\, Crones Don’t Whine\, Urgent Message from Mother\, Like a Tree\, and Moving Toward the Millionth Circle. She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a former clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco\, a past board member of the Ms. Foundation for Women and the International Transpersonal Association.”

Guided by world renowned Priestesses and leaders\, you can learn to identify and use herbs\, hone your skills in the ancient Amazon art of archery\, contribute your voice as we pass the rattle\, develop ritual skills\, empower yourself through the sacred archetypes of women\, and much\, much more. \nEach day we offer a variety of workshops and opportunities for learning.  Choose to attend as few or as many as you like\, or simply relax – swim in the pool\, hike through the woods\, listen to the music\, enter into deep discussion\, shop with our hand-selected vendors\, or just sit quietly and meditate in this sacred space. \nEvenings are reserved for us to come together in the Gaia Bowl\, our sacred ritual space of Fire and Light.  It is here that we call to the Goddess and weave our magic; honor and invoke our Foremothers; hold Initiation and Ordination rituals; and drum\, dance\, and sing our prayers – for ourselves and the Earth! All of nature is just a step outside your cabin door. \nAll meals are prepared for us – there is no work duty\, no food to cook\, no dishes to do. Your only responsibility is to come with an open heart and open mind\, find connection through Sisterhood\, and share your energies in this movement for social change.  Come and meet us Between the Worlds\, outside of mundane space and time\, to find rejuvenation and renewed purpose!”
