SUMMARY:Dark of the Moon Practice for Hermes and Hekate
DESCRIPTION:Dark of the Moon Practice for Hermes and Hekate \nwith Sam Webster \nWednesday\, September 24\, gather at 8:00PM\, Ceremony begins at 8:15PM\, \nand each month within the three day Dark Moon window \nThe Sacred Well\, 536 Grand Avenue\, Oakland\, 510-444-9355 \nDonations welcome \nhttp://www.sacredwell.com/classes-events \nhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Webster_(writer) \nhttp://hermetic.com/webster \n  \n“Sam Webster (founder of the Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn\, author of Tantric Thelema\, and Priest of Hermes and Hekate) hosts an open Dark of the Moon practice at The Sacred Well each month\, making offerings to Hermes and Hekate. \n  \nThe large wooden representation of Hermes\, classically called a Herm\, was consecrated and worshipped at PantheaCon 2013 by Pagans\, Magickians\, and spiritual practitioners from many different backgrounds in a large ceremony that drew heavily on classical Greek material. \n  \nThe Herm now resides at the Sacred Well\, and each month we gather to continue this sacred work with Dark Moon ritual for Hermes and Hekate\, who were frequently honored at the crossroads together in ancient Greece. The practice that Sam shares in this circle is one he has maintained without fail since the Dark Moon of January 1992. \n  \nUpcoming dates: \nOctober 22 \nNovember 22 \nDecember 21 \n  \n  \nStudy with Sam and more formal training in the Priestcraft of Hermes for those who desire to keep this rite are available. Please speak with Sam about this directly when you attend.”

SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Fall Equinox and Laka\, Hawaiian Goddess of Hula and The Forest \nTuesday\, September 23\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $30 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgendered women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“She was born of a breath: an emanation\, rather than a human birth\, and She is the purest experience of inspiration. \nAltars to Laka grace the entrances of hula halaus in many reaches of the world! She is the Goddess of Hula\, and it is Her energy that moves the bodies of those who perform this Sacred Dance. Hula\, then\, is a partnership between the body that moves and the spirit of Laka that creates the movement. Laka both demands and ensures that we concentrate\, work hard\, and are diligent in whatever we endeavor to pursue. \nAs the Goddess of Hula\, Laka keeps the ancient stories of Indigenous Hawaiian ethnic heritage alive and sees to it that the history of the Hawaiian people is remembered and infused into the lives of future generations. She is Sacred Memory. \nLaka is also the Goddess of the forest and vegetation; all things lush and growing. She inspires life\, She increases fecundity\, and She teaches us about diligently listening for signs from Nature. When we embark to enter the forest\, it is She to whom we ask for permission. If we need plants from beneath Her trees\, it is She to whom we look for approval. As the Forest Goddess\, Laka is also closely associated with rainfall and the movement of air required for life. Many plants and flowers are Sacred to Her\, including the ohia lehua\, maile\, lama\, and ie ie\, which are traditionally used on Her altars and to make the leis which adorn Hula Dancers. \nThe Fall Equinox is the second of the three harvest Holydays in Nature’s calendar and the day when at the equator\, there are equal light and dark hours in a 24 hour period! How precious that we will prepare an altar for Laka during our Fall Rite! We give praise and thanks to Laka for this year’s precious harvest. \nAs we ready ourselves to feel the Spirit of Laka within us\, let us consider how we dance through each day of our lives\, how we have danced through the Wheel of the Year\, and what we will be harvesting from our hard work. How do you honor this energy that flows through you? In what ways do you reciprocate? How diligently do you listen to Her wishes and value them above all else? \nFor the altar\, please bring an offering of greenery\, a small potted plant\, some flowers\, or a fruit that you think She would like. In addition\, please bring a yellow candle and wear yellow\, which is a color that traditionally represents Laka on altars built for Her. \nWe look forward to celebrating Fall Equinox\, under the New Moon\, at the altar of Laka with each of you! \n  \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc. In honor of Mother Earth\, we do not provide disposable items)\, a candle (for safety reasons\, we highly recommend a candle in a glass container\, often called a novena)\, and pillow or chair to sit on to all rituals. For more information about our rituals please visit our FAQ page. \nPlease see our current series schedule and check the web page for the specific ritual to see what items to bring and how to prepare yourself. Please take the time to read this\, especially if you are a newcomer. New information is added from time to time so even if you feel you have already seen this\, it is important to check back in every now and then.”

Devotionals vary from month to month\, are dedicated to deities from a variety of traditions\, and are led by Solar Cross clergy and guests. \n  \nHeld every third Sunday of the month in Berkeley\, CA\, Solar Cross offers these free devotionals as an opportunity to connect with divinity and community. Participants typically gather at 10:00 am for a 10:30 am start\, and follow a simple ritual format (see below). Meetings are held outdoors (weather permitting) in a tranquil garden setting and conclude at noon. \n  \nOfferings of bread\, fruit or flowers for the altar are appreciated\, but there is no potluck. SUMMARY:Sharing our Personal Stories
DESCRIPTION:Sharing our Personal Stories \nwith The San Jose Pagan and Magick Meetup Group \nWednesday\, September 17\, 7:00-9:00PM \nHobee’s Restaurant\, 4224 El Camino Real\, Palo Alto\, 650-856-6124 \nDonation $1 per person \nhttp://www.meetup.com/magickal-374/events/206090382 \nhttp://hobees.com/locations/palo-alto \n  \n“We’ll be in the back room. \n  \nHello Again\, All! \n  \nThis month\, instead of a class or lecture or workshop\, we will share our stories. How did we come here? Some of us may have been raised in Pagan families\, while others came to call ourselves Pagans as the result of a personal spiritual quest\, while some of us may not even call ourselves Pagan or Heathen – yet walk a path that brings us to fellowship with Pagans. Let’s hear each other’s tales of how we came here – and perhaps a few adventures along the path – and share the insights we have discovered. \n  \nAlso\, let’s welcome all our new members: I’ve been so busy that I haven’t welcomed them each personally\, and it would be great to see our new friends here. And\, if anyone has questions they’d like to ask about Pagan paths\, please feel free to ask: this will be a relatively informal gathering where we can benefit from each other’s experience. See you there!\n$1 donation requested to help cover costs of running this group; no one turned away for lack of money.”

Voluspa: the Witch’s Prophecy. \n  \nWe’ll discuss advance readings from my forthcoming Secret History of the Witches\, and I’ll offer some all-new visual webcasts\, as well as live discussions via teleconference. \n  \nRegister here. You can go month by month ($31) or get a discount by prepaying three or more months at a time ($25 per month). \n  \nThe course runs from September 1 to May 1 (with a hiatus from late October to late November\, when I’ll be doing another Australian tour – more details on that in a month). In the 2015 section\, we’ll also go into the Irish Goddess and Brigid / Padraic chapters which got omitted in the last round (part III of this ongoing course). \n  \nThis is one more step toward publication of Secret History of the Witches\, and helps to fund its completion. I hope it will be a sourcebook for recovery of these spiritual legacies\, an aid in reweaving the the ripped webs of culture.”
