Kelley \nMusical Composer Tommy Shepherd \nDirected by Rhodessa Jones \n  \nEmerging Chicago playwright Nambi E. Kelley’s contemporary urban adaptation of Sophocles’ tragedy Antigone is an impassioned response to the recent untimely deaths of children in her native city as a result of gang violence\, which has risen sharply in the past several years. The production updates the conventions of ancient drama for our contemporary movement. \nEnsemble singing\, rhythmic movement\, and musical accompaniment was an essential part of Greek tragedy’s original performance in ancient Athens; similarly\, music will provide an urgent musical heartbeat to this stirring depiction of the immense human cost of violence in our cities and in our families.”

Drawing on her deep love of Nature and lifelong fascination with the worlds of Fairy Tale\, Myth\, and Magic\, Wendy’s songs combine irresistible melodies with rich aural textures and a rare personal honesty. \nWith the recent release of her 10th studio album Black Snake\, Wendy has once again proven that she is one of Australia’s most uniquely gifted and prolific artists. With an extraordinary voice that moves from soaring heights to intimate whispers\, Wendy explores all facets of the emotional world. Darkness and light\, night and day\, life and death are equally honored. \nFiercely independent\, Wendy has carved a unique path through the musical mainstream. Renowned for years amongst the world’s alternative spiritual communities\, she is now deservedly gaining a much broader following.
