SUMMARY:Celebrate Beira\, Scottish Goddess of Winter
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Beira\, Scottish Goddess of Winter \nwith Daughters of the Goddess \nThursday\, December 4\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgender women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“She is the Old Crone of Winter\, the Queen of Winter\, Goddess Beira of Scotland is a Goddess of transformation and creation.  She is the Mother of all the Goddesses and Gods. She is part of the Triple Goddess who make up the seasons of the year. She is a Giantess who walks the Earth\, covering it with snow that falls from Her hair. She creates mountains ranges and valleys with Her magical hammer. She leaps from mountaintop to mountaintop\, dropping rocks which create the rolling sacred hills. Beira controls the weather of Winter\, unleashing powerful and cleansing storms. \nBeira also protects the animals during the Winter by putting them to sleep\, hibernating until the spring. She assists the deer in finding food in the snow-covered forests and valleys of the mountains.  At Winter Solstice\, Beira drinks of the fountain of youth and slowly starts to become young again as Spring arrives. \nBeira has been made in many of the stories to be an ugly\, angry\, old crone\, seeing old age as something evil and to be avoided.  We have lost our connection to our elders\, often locking them away or disregarding their wisdom.  We need to change this\, we are losing so much.  At this time the we celebrate all the mysteries of the Winter and of the wise ones – our elders.  How can we honor the elders in our lives?  How do we open up to hearing the wisdom that has been gained thru a lifetime of living?  These are women who have paved the way for us\, and can teach us the mystery of what it is to live the cycles of the years\, the changes in womyn’s bodies\, and magic of life. \nWe are sending a special shout out to the crones of our community.  Many we see only once a year at our Annual Womyn’s Spiral Dance.  You have so much to offer\, and so much that we can learn from.  It would be wonderful to have you come and join us at this altar to celebrate this important and sacred stage of life. \nFor the altar\, please bring a white candle and stone or rock that is sacred to you.  Also if you have any images or symbols of Beira\, please bring them for the altar. Her Symbols are sacred stones\, ravens\, crows\, the waning moon\, and falling leaves. \nCome and celebrate with us the wonders and Mysteries of the Winter Crone. \n  \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc. In honor of Mother Earth\, we do not provide disposable items)\, a candle (for safety reasons\, we highly recommend a candle in a glass container\, often called a novena)\, and pillow or chair to sit on to all rituals. For more information about our rituals please visit our FAQ page. \nPlease see our current series schedule and check the web page for the specific ritual to see what items to bring and how to prepare yourself. Please take the time to read this\, especially if you are a newcomer. New information is added from time to time so even if you feel you have already seen this\, it is important to check back in every now and then.”

The practice that Sam shares in this circle is one he has maintained without fail since the Dark Moon of January 1992. \n  \nUpcoming dates: \nDecember 21 \n  \nStudy with Sam and more formal training in the Priestcraft of Hermes for those who desire to keep this rite are available. Please speak with Sam about this directly when you attend.”

SUMMARY:Celebrate Tuwapongtumsi\, Hopi Earth Mother and Goddess of All Moist Elements of Life
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Tuwapongtumsi\, Hopi Earth Mother and Goddess of All Moist Elements of Life\nFriday\, November 21\, 7:30PM\nLafayette location\, directions given upon RSVP\n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange\nThis ritual is for cisgendered women.\nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com\nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com\n“In the beginning\, in the ‘long ago’\, Tuwapongtumsi married Sootukwnanagw. They were the Earth and the Sun. The Creatrix and the Light. The Sand Altar Maiden and the Star god. Their intercourse and their climax brings rain to all living things. The fluids produced by their passions are the fertilizing nectar of all of life. \nThe Hopi Peoples are descended from the Anasazi. Today\, many live on the Hopi Indian Reservation in modern Arizona. They are known in the United States as Pueblo Peoples because they lived in villages upon their contact with Spanish intruders on their continent. Then they were both farmers and herders of small animals such as sheep. One can imagine how important water and rainfall were to people who depended upon the falling water for the survival of their crops and their animal herds. \nTuwapongtumsi is known to some as Mother Earth Herself\, an understanding that derives from sum of the parts of Her name. Tuwa means sand\, pong means display\, and tumasi means female. To others She is Sand Altar Womyn or Sand Altar Maiden. She is the nurturer of all living things and the Mother of all plants. She brings life to the smallest mosses\, the prettiest flowers\, and the tallest trees. She brings life to us. \nAs our Winter/wet season approaches in the Bay Area\, we humbly and graciously gather at the altar of Tuwapongtumsi\, She who is the Goddess of all Moist Elements of Life. In so doing we acknowledge Her importance and we give praise and thanks to Her for every molecule of water that She shares with us through Her pleasure. It is water that bonds all living things and through our water: our sweat\, our blood\, our tears\, and our own passionate offerings of a sexual nature\, we are Her daughters. \nFor the altar please bring a blue or green candle. Also please bring a small container/bottle of water collected from the geographic area in which you live: the sacred water that sustains your body and that of your community – the water that you bathe in\, drink\, water your plants with\, and feed to your animals. \nWe look so forward to circling with you! \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following:\nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc.

SUMMARY:The Transgender Rite of Ancestor Elevation
DESCRIPTION:The Transgender Rite of Ancestor Elevation\nWednesday\, November 19-Thursday\, November 20\nworldwide\nhttp://trans-rite.tumblr.com/post/101971128694/the-trans-rite-of-ancestor-elevation-an-introduction \n  \n“This is a ritual to honor the transgender dead. \nAncestor elevation\, in the words of polytheist scholar and ancestor worker Galina Krasskova\, ‘is a sacred practice that is done to help the soul of a dead family member who was troubled or angry or depressed in life\, perhaps doing harmful things to themselves or others\, perhaps never able to live a happy life due to their own inner demons… In doing an elevation for a particular ancestor\, we are engaging in ancestral healing\, in cleansing a tiny bit of mess\, blockage\, pain\, strain\, hurt from that particular line.’ \nWe have adapted her suggested ancestor elevation ritual format to elevate our transgender ancestors\, those who came with us and before us\, those who survived struggles and violence and hardships\, as well as those who didn’t survive them. There is incredible pain and rage in the ranks of the transgender dead – we the living can understand it all too well. We seek to help relieve the suffering that persists after death\, and to offer back to those who gave so much so that we could simply exist today. We elevate our ancestors out of the miasma that clings to them. We hope to bring them healing and peace. \nThe format of the ritual is as follows: for nine consecutive days\, beginning on November 12 and concluding on the Transgender Day of Remembrance\, participants will set out a candle and a glass of clean drinking water on an ancestor altar\, and then read a series of prayers offered to the dead. That\, plus the physical raising of the altar itself to counterpoint the spiritual raising of our ancestors\, is the basic framework within which we will be working. \nThank you for joining us in honoring our beloved transgender dead.”

This ritual is taken from 8th century Bon text\, Tse Drup Jha Ri Ma. It was transmitted orally to Lama Tsewang Rigzin by the dakini Yum Chen Thuk Je Kundol. \nIn this ritual\, you will receive a soul retrieval and learn the basics of preparing all that is needed to perform the ritual. Please bring a turquoise bead (with a hole for stringing) that is free of cracks and chips and a cord in any color other than black (for stringing the bead). Turquoise beads will also be available for purchase at the event. \nGeshe Murig Nyima Kunchap is a master of Sutra\, Tantra\, and Dogchen of Bon tradition. SUMMARY:Celebrate Lakshmi\, Hindu Goddess of Fertility\, Abundance\, Prosperity\, Beauty\, and Health
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Lakshmi\, Hindu Goddess of Fertility\, Abundance\, Prosperity\, Beauty\, and Health \nThursday\, November 6\, 7:30PM \nConcord location\, directions given upon RSVP \n$15 newcomer discount\, $35 one time exchange \nThis ritual is for cisgendered women. \nPlease RSVP to 925-787-9247 or Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com \nhttp://www.daughtersofthegoddess.com \n  \n“Lakshmi (Good Fortune)\, sometimes called Sri (Prosperity) is the Hindu Goddess of love and beauty.  She brings us Wealth\, Love\, Beauty\, Happiness and Abundance. Lakshmi is derived from the Sanskrit word Laksya\, which means aim or goal. Some of Her other titles include: The Lotus Goddess\, Daughter of the Ocean of Milk (Ksirabdhitanaya)\, Ocean Born (Jaladhija)\, Lotus (Padma)\, Lotus Bearer (Padmavati) and Jaganmata (the Mother of the Universe). \nLakshmi’s story begins with Her birth from the churning ocean\, riding a Lotus Blossom\, bearing gifts and blessings\, and bringing renewal to the world.  Shining like a million stars\, Lakshmi rode in upon Her Lotus Blossom delighting and dazzling all of the gods with Her radiant beauty. She is a beautiful woman with four hands\, sitting on a full-blooming lotus and holding lotus buds – which stand for beauty\, purity and fertility.  Gold coins also flow from Her hands. \nShe is known to be a Goddess of wealth and prosperity in both the spiritual and the material realms.  In India\, Her devotees worship Her during Diwali\, the Festival of Lights. Small diyas (earthen oil lamps) are lit around the periphery of and inside homes\, welcoming Lakshmi in and hoping that She will be comfortable. In West Bengal\, She is worshiped during a Full Moon night in Autumn\, it is believed that She showers wealth on this night. It is said that She comes on Her mount\, the Owl\, and takes away the darkness with Her\, leaving light and joy with Her devotees. \nIn Orissa\, Gaja Lakshmi Puja is celebrated with much fervor on a Full-Moon day in the month of Aswina (September-October). In some provinces\, the Puja or prayer sessions go on for as many as 7-10 days\, within the business community\, calling for an abundant fiscal year. \nAs we gather at Her altar\, we will ask Lakshmi to bless us with Her characteristics of beauty\, grace\, abundance\, prosperity\, love and happiness. \nFor the Ritual Please wear Gold or Green. For the altar bring pictures and symbols of Lakshmi.   Some of Lakshmi’s symbols include elephants\, water\, gold coins\, and rice. Holly and basil are sacred to Her. Please bring a gold\, white\, or green candle\, your checkbooks and wallets\, business plans\, and any other financial items that you want action on or would like to have blessed.  Bring something from nature for the altar that you don’t plan to take home\, such as a plant\, flower\, or piece of fruit. \nAlso\, remember to bring a wide mouth jar with a tight fitting lid and loose change and any oils or ingredients you want to add to the money water to help the energy grow and blossom.  In the spirit of giving thanks to the Temple\, please bring a tithe of 5 bills (of any denomination) wrapped in a gold cord or ribbon. \nIf you still have remaining Money Water from a previous ritual\, please use the water to bless your front steps\, computer\, money altar\, and the Earth.   Give the remaining money in the jar a good rinse\, giving Her thanks and praise for the goodness She has brought to you. Bring the leftover money to the ritual to add to the water or spend it on something special for your magickal practice! \nHail Laksmi! \nIf you are interested in participating in a ritual or celebration\, please help out by doing the following: \nPlease bring a snack to share (if possible\, food of the culture we are celebrating)\, washable eating utensils (bowl\, cup\, plate\, utensils\, etc.
